"Vitamin C is the most important of the vitamins, and is the most difficult to get. It is oxidized so easily that it disappears in storage of citrus fruits and vegetables." - Royal Lee, DDS
Organic acerola cherry comes from the largest organic and biodynamic acerola cherry grower in Brazil and is certified organic by Oregon Tilth. The cherries are grown with biodynamic principals to create a healthy ecosystem: which includes seasonal crops, pastures, herbs and a herd of pastured cows for natural fertilizer. Our acerola cherry is not freeze or spray dried which changes both the color, pH and vitamin C levels. Rather ours is processed with a proprietary gentle low heat method. As a result, the natural cherry color and flavor remains unchanged and no vitamin C is lost during the process. The result, an astounding 25,000 mg of only naturally occurring vitamin C per bottle.
Product details: This product does not contain, wheat, soy or dairy. It is tested non-GMO, certified kosher, and certified organic by Oregon Tilth.
Vitamin C Deficiency Symptoms
Whole food vitamin C can efficiently reach and nourish all of the cells of your body, and therefore, contains numerous health benefits. Too little vitamin C can lead to signs and symptoms of vitamin C deficiency, including:
Vitamin C content
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin. Unlike most mammals, humans do not have the ability to make ascorbic acid and must obtain vitamin C from their diet. Vitamin C is thus considered an essential dietary component, it protects against damage caused by free radicals, and is essential for the body to have to make collagen - the flexible protein found in cartilage, tendons, bone and skin.*
¼ teaspoon of 5 Wellness' Organic Acerola Cherry contains as much vitamin C as four whole oranges without all that unnecessary fruit sugar.
Real vitamin C is known to:
Help Prevent hair loss
Promote healthy teeth and gums
Protect skin and organs against premature aging
Promote a strong immune system and prevent colds and infections
Reduce inflammation in the body.
Whole Food Vitamin C vs. Ascorbic Acid
Study after study shows that natural vitamin C found only in whole foods supports the immune system, is a potent antioxidant, promotes healing, and strengthens capillaries. These benefits are greatly reduce or do not exist with isolated ascorbic acid. Some recent studies suggest that isolated ascorbic acid can actually become a free-radical generator and suppress the immune system.
You only need to take 1/4 tsp of organic vitamin C daily to meet your body's need in Vitamin C!
